We seek an initiative-taking and detail-oriented Supplier Quality Engineer to play a vital role in ensuring the quality of parts and materials supplied to our operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing supplier documentation, inspecting samples, and collaborating with internal and external teams to maintain high-quality standards and mitigate potential risks. Plans, coordinates, and directs the supplier quality program to achieve a 10 PPM quality level rating.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Analyze supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions in close collaboration with the Engineering team and the supplier.
· Identify and address quality discrepancies in PPAPs, ensuring clear communication with all parties involved.
· Maintain a network of contacts to effectively manage quality issues with suppliers.
· Conduct preliminary reviews of supplier-provided samples using a standardized reporting format.
· Responsible for investigating, analyzing, and providing support to suppliers to correct quality issues at their locations.
· Communicate findings to relevant internal stakeholders for informed decision-making.
· Review and follow up on supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs).
· Update our internal data system and internal teams on supplier failure analyses, guiding further departmental processes.
· Participate in developing a risk-based approach to supplier engagement, ranging from reactive to proactive audits.
· Maintain accurate records of supplier quality performance, audit results, and corrective actions.
· Ensure material and product compliance (IMDS and Conflict Materials)
· Assist in supplier survey/ audit responsibilities.
· Prepare & present quality reports to management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
· Improve supplier performance management processes and metrics consistently.
· Follow ISO/IATF and all other applicable procedures and company policies.
· Understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
Qualifications / Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience with statistical techniques and ability to analyze results.
· Thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
· Must have, strong interpersonal and communications skills, presentation skills, and excellent statistical analysis ability, management experience is a plus.
· Computer and software expertise (Outlook, Excel,) is a must, Tableau a plus.
· Must be able to travel 10%-20%
