Position Summary: The Head Baseball Coach serves as the leader for the baseball program and is responsible for operating a program for student-athletes and serving as a role model in meeting our complementary goals in Athletics & Recreation.
Education Required: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a related field is required; Master’s Degree is preferred. Significant experience, as applicable, may replace degree requirements.
Experience Required: Minimum experience of three (3) years coaching at the collegiate or high school level with preference for coaching at the collegiate level. Playing experience is strongly preferred.

- Ability to administer an NCAA Division III intercollegiate baseball program, including, but not limited to: recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, traveling, developing and administering game and practice plans, meeting and effectively communicating with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and prospective student-athletes;
- Ability to coach, teach, and train student-athletes in baseball-specific skills, drills, and strategies;
- Ability to establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student-athletes;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the stages of student development and the importance of a holistic education;
- Ability to be a team player within the Athletics & Recreation Department and the University;
- Good judgement and problem solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, retain, and graduate student-athletes;
- Ability to communicate effectively and consistently both orally and in writing, to include checking St. Joseph’s University, New York- Brooklyn e-mails regularly;
- Ability to transport student-athletes to practices and competitions, when necessary;
- Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and professional development, i.e., presentations, publications, service on regional and/or national committees.
Special Working Conditions: Required to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Analyze performance and instruct athletes in skills, techniques, and strategies in preparation for competition and during contests.
- Coordinate general administrative duties to include budgeting, game scheduling, and travel plans.
- Communicate with Athletics & Recreation Department administrators and support staff, as needed.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recruiting and scouting activities.
- Supervise assistant coaches.
- Serve on appropriate departmental and campus committees; be a presence in University activities and governance.
- Monitor student-athlete academic and athletic progress throughout the academic year.
- Adhere to and follow all rules and guidelines of St. Joseph's University - New York, Brooklyn, the Skyline Conference, and the NCAA.
- Monitor and ensure maintenance and respect of facilities and equipment.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- Conduct and be present for practices and competitions in both the traditional and non-traditional season as defined by the NCAA.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.
