Position Summary: This role will be responsible for managing the company’s fixed assets, ensuring compliance with various tax regulations, and overseeing processes related to property taxes, general insurance, sales tax, income tax, state escheating, and unclaimed property.
Qualifications:
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on fixed assets and tax compliance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fixed Assets Management:
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal.
- Conduct periodic physical inventory audits to verify the existence and condition of fixed assets.
- Prepare and reconcile fixed asset schedules and reports for financial reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper capitalization and classification of assets.
2. Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file various tax returns, including property taxes, sales tax, and income tax.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist in tax planning activities to minimize the company’s tax liabilities.
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities in a timely and accurate manner.
3. General Insurance Oversight:
- Manage the company’s general insurance policies, including property, liability, and casualty insurance.
- Review insurance coverage and ensure adequate protection for company assets and liabilities.
- Coordinate with insurance brokers and carriers to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favorable terms.
4. State Escheating and Unclaimed Property:
- Maintain compliance with state escheat laws and regulations governing unclaimed property.
- Monitor and report dormant accounts and unclaimed property to the appropriate state authorities.
- Reconcile escheat liability accounts and ensure timely remittance of escheat funds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
