Job Title: Shop Coordinator
Overview: The Shop Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the production line by overseeing the entire manufacturing process and orchestrating the flow of materials. With a strong presence on the floor, this individual will work closely with production supervisors to schedule and coordinate tasks in alignment with high-level directives from the Plant Manager to facilitate seamless operations. The Shop Coordinator will be responsible for managing the deployment of resources, scheduling production jobs across departments, and maintaining optimal workflow to prevent bottlenecks.
Responsibilities:
1. Production Oversight:
o Supervise and coordinate the activities of production supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
o Monitor production processes to identify and address any issues or bottlenecks.
o Implement strategies to optimize production efficiency and meet targets.
2. Scheduling and Coordination:
o Translate high-level production directives from the Plant Manager into actionable plans for each department.
o Schedule production jobs across departments to maintain a steady flow of
materials and resources.
o Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changing priorities or unforeseen
circumstances.
o Have discretion over two floaters to assist in maintaining consistent workflow and handle irregular tasks that deviate from production standards while aligning with operational goals.
o Direct quality control personnel to the upcoming completion of a job for
inspection.
3. Resource Management:
o Deploy resources effectively to support production requirements.
o Coordinate with team members to ensure timely delivery of materials to the production line.
o Supervise floaters to provide assistance where needed and prevent disruptions to workflow.
o Manage forklift movement to streamline the process and optimize material flow within the production environment.
o Work directly with the inventory control clerk to ensure materials are available for production.
4. Quality Assurance:
o Implement quality assurance measures to identify and address any deviations from standards.
5. Lean Concepts Implementation:
o Utilize lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement and eliminate waste in production processes.
o Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and lead initiatives to implement lean practices.
6. Safety and Compliance:
o Relay information to the safety officer for safety implementations and follow up on
safety-related concerns.
o Assist in the communication of safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulations in all production activities.
7. Team Leadership:
o Provide guidance and support to production supervisors and team members.
o Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials.
· Familiarity with safety regulations and quality assurance standards.
· Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and experience implementing lean practices.
· Lean Six Sigma certification above a yellow belt is preferred.
· Effective communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in manufacturing or related field is a plus.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
