Job Overview:
Dunbarton is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic accounting team. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial support to management. This position assists in managing the accounting and reporting for the general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, accounts payable, fixed assets and payroll. Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks:
- Supervises accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll.
- Assist with financial reporting package.
- Maintains the general ledger system.
- Prepares journal entries and adjustments.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
- Enforces accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepares standard and ad hoc reports for management.
- Evaluates financial statements and management reports.
- Reconcile inventory.
- Audits inventory transactions for accuracy and legitimacy.
- Monitors and analyzes inventory valuation.
- Assists in development of policies, procedures, and operational controls.
- Manages and prepares payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Collect, track and manage payroll taxes.
Other Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks:
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other assigned meetings.
- Assist in area safety inspections and correct violations.
- Attend all required safety training.
- Assist in other plant areas or perform other assigned tasks, as needed.
Essential Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of (GAAP) generally accepted accounting practices.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and methodologies.
- Knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and ability to prepare and analyze operating, expense and labor budgets.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial statements.
- Substantial knowledge of cost control methods and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of UKG/Kronos for payroll employee management.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must possess effective leadership skills.
- Ability to perform all duties in a safe manner, without endangering any employee or asset.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed, and travel locally. Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds on an infrequent basis.
- Ability to read and understand the English language.
- Must have excellent work performance, attendance and safety record.
Required Education and Experience:
- B.S. in accounting
- Four (4) years of relevant experience as a controller.
- Two (2) years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- M.B.A. or advanced accounting degree.
- CPA or CMA designation.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Two (2) years experience utilizing an ERP system.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience.
