Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Vice President of Human Resources to lead and oversee all aspects of our HR department. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in HR operations and leadership.
Job Summary:
The VP of HR will provide leadership and guidance throughout the organization but is also willing and able to do day-to-day HR tasks. The VP of HR is responsible for developing and implementing strategic HR plans and policies to support the company’s mission and strategy. The VP of HR will collaborate with the leadership team, oversee HR operations, guide HR executives, ensure compliance with labor laws, and analyze HR effectiveness. The HR team of three (the VP of HR, the HR Manager and HR Coordinator) is responsible for all HR-related activities (approx. 315 people).
Job Duties
- Leadership:The VP of HR provides the leadership and vision for the development and support of our team.
- Design and create leadership development programs.
- Assesses, recommends, creates, and implements leadership development processes, tools, resources, and solutions and/or organization development interventions based on strategic or tactical business plans
- Utilizes expert facilitation skills in conducting leadership and professional development programs for mid to senior levels across the organization.
- Delivers leadership development courses and workshops in alignment with the organization’s goals.
- Establish, execute, and monitor the rollout of leadership development programs as required.
- Provide support for leadership development programs, as needed.
- Build common leadership and professional skills for all employees
- Work closely with the Leadership Team and the HR Manager to ensure the HR department is a strong business partner to the entire organization.
- Prepare monthly updates for the Board of Directors.
- Provide support to the organization’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council.
- Strengthen workplace policies with the revision of the Employee Handbook.
- Directly supervise the HR Manager and HR Coordinator and work collaboratively to ensure all HR processes are effective and efficient. (Benefits, Total Compensation, Employee Relations, Employee Recognition, and other related HR functions.)
- Directly work closely with department leaders to strengthen processes around recruitment and hiring.
- Lead the use of the applicant tracking system across the organization.
- Continuously monitoring recruitment efforts. Continuously seeking other avenues and creative ways to reach more candidates.
- Continue strengthening the onboarding process with dynamic resources and solid processes for strong department-specific onboarding.
- Lead and oversee performance management practices across the organization.
- Ensure managers have the tools and training for continuous coaching around goals and areas for development.
- Collaborate with department leaders to build our learning paths to ensure all staff have the functional skills to succeed in their roles.
- Employee Relations: Providing day-to-day Human Resources support to employees’ questions and requests as specifically as they related to benefits and payroll and holding weekly HR office hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in human services or related field.
- Minimum of five years progressive leadership experience in a high growth environment at a senior or executive.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in management/leadership position within the SUD industry preferred.
- Training and/or certification in Human Resource functions preferred.
- SHRM-CP/PHR certified preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Attitudes:

- Exceptional communicator.

- Highly skilled in building trusting, collaborative relationships. Excel in interpersonal communications, inclusive leadership, and managing difficult conversations.
- Strong understanding of applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Superior project management, priority setting, verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various data analytics reports.
- Experience in strategic planning and/or operating plan creation.
