GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring various types of machines throughout the entire production process.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Operate complex machines under direction while adhering to safety policies and procedures.
· Monitor the machine performance and settings to identify and report malfunctions.
· Check output of the machines to identify and report products that are not to the company standard in order to maintain production logs.
· Maintain a safe and clean work area by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools, debris, and equipment when not in use, and securing the facility on a daily basis.
· Move, secure, load, and/or unload materials manually within the facility.
· Move tools, equipment (forklift), and/or other material as directed by supervisor.
· Prepare goods for shipment for final packaging.
· Label and pack products following a specific set of instructions.
· Assist with minor maintenance tasks as needed.
· Move completed packages for loading and/or storage.
· Follow all safety procedures and report violations immediately to management.
· Perform various physical duties as assigned.
· Maintain all safety standards.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical degree is a plus. Proven experience as a machine operator preferred. Ability to read specifications, schematics and manuals. Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools. Understanding of production procedures. Adherence to health and safety regulations. (e.g. constant use of protective gear) Analytical skills and attention to detail. Must work effectively with diverse types of people. Must possess verbal and written communication skills. Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals. Ability to work overtime and flexible schedule/shifts. Must have a positive attitude.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, maneuver and/or pivot up to 50 pounds with assistance. Must wear all required personal protective equipment in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled.
