TITLE: Special Education Resource Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL ELLEMENTS
Special Education Testing, IEP Development and Collaboration
- Administer standardized academic achievement tests, interpreting results to determine students' strengths and areas of need for initial assessments and triennial assessments and develop a legally defensible written assessment report.
- Provide alternative accommodations and/or modifications to learners with disabilities for assignments and testing in the general education classroom.
- Consult with General Education Teachers, School Psychologist, and DIS providers and other specialists for assessment input.
- Collaborate with parents, general ed staff and specialists to develop and implement Individual Education Plans for learners with disabilities including the development and improvement of accommodations/modifications to create appropriate access to education for students with disabilities.
- Maintain timelines as prescribed by federal law under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, 1997) and IDEIA (Individuals with Disabilities in Education Improvement Act, 2004) and State of California Education Code.
- Generate required paperwork documenting IEP notifications, meeting attendance, eligibility, program placement and goals/objectives in compliance special education law.
* Gather academic and behavior data and service logs to monitor progress and ensure IEP goals are being met and services delivered per the IEP.
- Administer State testing to learners with accommodations and modifications and preparing testing materials in compliance with State regulations. *
* Provide small group or whole class (team teaching) direct instruction to all students as determined by intervention guidelines and school site plan.
Curriculum/Behavior Accommodations and Modifications
- Provide on-going collaboration with general educators to implement and adjust accommodations and modifications as per IEP’s including informing general educators about the effect of disabilities on access to education and the educational needs of learners with disabilities.
- Develop alternative assignments and activities aligned with the CA standards (Common Core Standards) for all learners.
- Create and monitor Behavior Support Plans in coordination with the IEP team and general educators to improve behavioral outcomes for all learners
Student Success Coach Supervision
- Monitor and direct Student Success Coach serving students both in the general Ed classroom and the learning center
* Develop and monitor lesson plans for Student Success Coach
- Create push-in and small group schedule for Student Success Coach.
- Provide training to Student Success Coach on behavior management techniques, teaching methods, data collection and instructional approaches.
- Provide input for District annual evaluation of Student Success Coach according to CSEA guidelines in coordination with the site principal
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience as a teacher
SKILLS: Eligible for California Education Specialist Instruction Credential

Pay: $61,273.00 - $129,052.00 per year
