Purpose of Position:
The Caregiving Youth Educator understands and makes a substantial contribution toward fulfilling the agency’s goals, mission, and vision. It is critical for Caregiving Youth and their families to increase their knowledge and understanding about health conditions, their prevention, home safety and other wellness related topics. The Educator provides ongoing information about the AACY programs including but not limited to the Caregiving Youth Project (CYP), the Caregiving Youth Outlier Project (CYOP), Affiliates of all types, individuals, and related new offerings and services for staff at schools, other pertinent organizations, and outreach opportunities about the issues of Caregiving Youth and their families.
Goals
1. Implement newly created AACY Caregiving Youth Education Program
2. Develop and/or acquire relevant and current health education materials
3. Utilize multi-media approaches for communication success
4. Seek and accept presentation opportunities that are either in person or virtual
5. Raise awareness about Caregiving Youth with them, their families, the public, and professionals.
Reports to: CYP Director
Essential Responsibilities:
1. The ongoing development and the delivery of key objectives and outcomes for the AACY Caregiving Youth Education Program.
2. Coordinate and participate in community education events related to Caregiving Youth and family health circumstances with respect for cultural variabilities.
3. Document all education promotion activities and individuals served along with evaluations of accomplishing session and/or program objectives.
4. Prepare written reports and documentation, including extent of presentation reach and success in an accurate and timely manner.
5. Promote the AACY Caregiving Youth Education Program and conduct presentations for affiliates and developing programs in other regions, counties, and/or states.
6. Liaison with AACY staff and partners to conduct AACY education and/or Lunch and Learn workshops and programs in schools, and in the community either in person or virtually.
7. Actively participate in staff meetings.
8. Catalogue and track AACY promotional materials.
9. Other duties as may be assigned and/or requested in fulfillment of the agency’s mission.

Qualifications:
Preferred: College degree or at least six years of related experience required including aspects of multiple health conditions, care, and treatments. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience, multilingual skills a plus.
· Manages organizational skills with ability to independently handle multiple tasks, prioritizing work by considering its importance, urgency, and potential business, organizational, or customer implications
· Manages activities within budgetary constraints
· Exhibits a high level of discretion regarding confidential information
· Has advanced skills in Microsoft Office and technology for communications
· Exhibits respect for people as well as detail and accuracy
· Adapts to new environments for presentations and other work-related activities which may include travel
· Displays a “can do” attitude with a willingness to build strong and healthy relationships among team, youth and their families, the community, and all stakeholders
· Demonstrates flexibility under pressure, response to shifting deadlines, manage a variety of activities simultaneously, take initiative, and have superior detail-orientation, creativity and flexibility in problem solving

Work Location:
Time will be spent in the AACY office and other agency and activity related locations.
