Job Description:
OVERVIEW:
As Sr. Associate, Enterprise and Financial Communications at General Mills, you will plan and execute communications that advance General Mills’ corporate brand and reputation, with a focus on driving a steady cadence of stories related to our Accelerate enterprise strategy.
This role is responsible for driving cohesive storytelling for our innovation pillar, including priority work within Data & Technology (D&T), Innovation, Technology & Quality (ITQ) and the company’s venture arm, Gold Medal Ventures. This role will also support our financial storytelling priorities, including quarterly earnings reporting, in partnership with the Manager, Enterprise and Financial Communications, and the Investor Relations team. Day-to-day responsibilities include enterprise communications planning, story mining, writing, content creation, calendar management, research, reporting, proactive and reactive media relations, and event management. This position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of prior communications experience and reports to the Manager, Enterprise and Financial Communications.
An ideal candidate has a passion for corporate storytelling, writing, planning and research, with ability to counsel senior leaders, work as a team player, influence across the organization and manage competing deadlines and projects with strong attention to detail.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategically plan and execute communications that advance General Mills’ corporate brand and reputation, through enterprise and financial storytelling

Communicate corporate and financial progress through a variety of external channels and tactics, including press releases, blogs, pitches, social content, newsletters, key messages, Q&As and more, with ability to adapt messaging based on audience

Prepare and support leaders with media engagements, owned channel storytelling, conferences and speaking engagements

Manage editorial and content calendars with a keen focus on planning timelines, review processes and stakeholder management

Support the company’s media relations efforts, including proactively identifying opportunities with priority media, developing compelling pitches and assisting in managing the company’s media line

Scan and research external landscape for key insights and best practices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or related field

Minimum of 5-7 years communications experience in a corporate or agency setting

Highly independent self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities on competing timelines, with a bias for action

Ability to collaborate and influence across functions and reporting levels

Excellent oral and written communication skills (writing samples and written test required)

Strong attention to detail across written work and calendar management

Experience in creative storytelling and omnichannel delivery
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Aptitude for social media engagement and management of social platforms

Experience developing clear and compelling internal communications

Experience managing events, from logistics to content development
