This FPGA Design Engineer position at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at the University of Rochester involves developing and supporting custom embedded electronics and consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) products. The successful candidate will have:
Required Qualifications:
- Education: BSEE/BSEET
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years or equivalent training and experience
- Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of VHDL coding
- Experience with RTL simulation
- Familiarity with circuit design, development, and troubleshooting
Desired Skills:
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx Vivado or ISE
- Familiarity with high-speed transceivers (PCIe or fiber optics)
- Embedded programming in Linux
- CAD schematic capture
- Curiosity and a desire to learn new concepts, skills, and techniques
The role emphasizes theoretical and hands-on expertise in VHDL coding, RTL simulation, and circuit design. Experience with specific tools and technologies, such as Vivado, ISE, high-speed transceivers, and Linux, will be advantageous. Additionally, a passion for continuous learning is highly valued.
