Repurposed Thrift Store provides critical financial support for Living In Liberty whose mission is to combat and raise awareness about human trafficking globally and in Pittsburgh. We also seek to educate our shoppers about the reality of trafficking and about our mission which they support through their patronage. Repurposed is run by a small, paid managerial staff and many talented, faithful volunteers.
About the role
The General Store Managers are responsible for oversight and management of the entire first floor process from retrieving donations from donation drop-off to their final destination of being sold to store customers. The manager is also responsible for the oversight of the operation of the register. This position works in conjunction with the other Store Managers who report to the Lead Manager and Store Director.
Responsibilities
- Interact with customers and donors in a manner which reflects well on the Living in Liberty organization.
- Collaborate with other Managers on the “processes” including sorting, pricing of donations and overseeing the store needs
- Manage first floor volunteers and employees (cashiers and door monitor)
- See that donations are retrieved and sorted in a timely manner according to established protocols
- Provide a good work environment for other employees and volunteers including workers with special needs.
- Determine and oversee that items are priced appropriately. Oversee process of identifying and up-pricing special items.
- Open and close store which includes opening and closing register and other associated tasks like making sure lights are out, setting the alarm, etc.
- Answer store phone
- Run register when needed
Location & commitments
- This is a permanent, part-time position
- 15-25 hours per week
- Must work as scheduled; this will include some day and evening hours Monday-Friday and Saturdays (store closed Sundays)
Candidate requirements
- Must be able to lift donations in and out of bins.
- Must possess organizational and good time-management skills
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to effectively manage volunteers, other staff and work cooperatively with all store managers
- Ideal candidate has retail experience
- Ideal candidate has previous management experience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
