Our fast growing firm has an opening for a seasoned and experienced litigation secretary in our Woodland Hills office to assist 2-3 attorneys with day to day legal assistant tasks.
We are a nearly paperless office and legal assistants are expected to have a comprehensive background on the Microsoft Suites, PDF software, as well as a general background on interfacing with the Windows operating system and a computer.
Your day to day tasks will include:
- Drafting correspondences and notices to opposing counsel, clients, and/or court officials
- Reviewing, editing, and finalizing legal documents including formatting discovery and pleadings
- E-filing necessary documents (Our firm utilizes primarily One Legal)
- Coordinating Appointments, motion hearings, expert and client meets, and depositions
- Calendaring pertinent dates for cases (Calendaring experience is required)
- Reviewing and analyzing documents on a daily basis for insurance defense cases to ensure that deadlines are met
Additional experience with the following is preferred:
- Type, draft, edit, and finalize pleadings, i.e., complaints, answers, demurrers, motion papers, brief reports, etc. Locate and compile all exhibits necessary in support of motions.
- Prepare and finalize table of contents and table of authorities for motions.
- Proficient in Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) and PACER systems with District
- Courts, Federal Courts, Bankruptcy Courts and Appellate Courts and knowledgeable of aforementioned Courts' local rules and protocols.
