Title: Production Team Lead
Reports to: Production Group Leader

Summary
The Production Team Lead position performs assembly, material handling, and rework tasks in a fast paced, repetitive bench or line operation to produce automotive seat systems in a multi-step processing using a variety of tools and equipment with many parts and details and where tolerances are specific. This position will assist the Production Group Leader with setting up standards of performance, measures progress, sets up and controls work flow, and determine personnel needs based on production schedules and goals.
Duties to include but not limited to:

Assist with directing and coordinating production, processing and distribution within the department.

Review production schedules and orders to assist with decisions concerning personnel coverage requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.

Review production or processing issues with the Production Group Leader as needed

Work with Production Group Leader in setting and monitoring product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.

Talk and advise with Team Members to coordinate operations and activities within department.

Assist in production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems.

Demonstrate equipment operations, SOPs, and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.

Provides direction, development and leadership to Team Members.

Accountable for the daily output of production for the production department.

Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Production Department to produce seats.

Assemble, perform material handling, and rework using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and jigs.

Assemble metal, foam, fabric/leather and electronic components using hand, pneumatic, and electric tools, fixtures and jigs.

Read, interpret, and follow work orders and work instructions/Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) to ensure work is performed according to specifications.

Maintain a consistent work pace on each operation; utilize time well; perform tasks within required time.

Performs any variety of operational tasks and workstations within the Production Department to maintain positive flow of work.

Material handling functions as required to maintain inventory of work stations, or to move product through the production process.

Perform quality checks and recognize defective parts and any inconsistencies with production flow to assure product meets all specifications and standards.

Write production reports, track parts and scrap as required.

Follow requirements of Quality policies and standards, such as, ISO 9001, TS16949, IATF16949

Adhere to 5S to keep work site clean and orderly consistently improving appearance of the team’s area. Active in following 5s—Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain organization of work area.

Collaborate with Team Members, Team Leaders, Group Leaders and/or other members of Hyundai Transys to be active contributors to the team.

Attend all required training as assigned.

Comply with and promote company practices and policies in all areas including Safety, Standards of Conduct, Quality, Performance, and Communication.

Be flexible in work to support continuous improvement activities that will ensure personal and company growth.

Technical Skills and Work Experience:
-
Must have at least 6 months experience working in an automotive manufacturing environment related to seating
-
Assembly skills and knowledge within the seating industry
-
Basic computer office skills (PowerPoint/Excel/Email)
-
Capable of operating a pallet jack and/or a fork truck
-
Proven leadership skills and the ability to positively influence a team
-
Basic skills in business economics and time and motion studies
-
Broad knowledge of OSHA and workplace health and safety programs
-
Broad knowledge of quality systems including TS-16949, ISO and QS; continuous improvement, Kaizen, 5-S, lean manufacturing, KANBAN, TPS.

Must be able to spot visual defects and assist in making quality decisions

Required to use close vision, peripheral vision, focus and see colors as required to read equipment and material labels, color-coded inventory, computer terminal screens, etc.

May be required to wear safety Personal Protective Equipment for eyes, face, head, feet, hearing, hands and arms

Be willing to travel for training if required (in-state)

Ability to work extended hours, overtime and/or weekends as required
The employee generally works in warehouse and indoor office environments but occasionally works outside, in all types of weather and on uneven terrain.
