Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 34 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward-thinking processor of value-added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is seeking an experienced FSQA Manager to oversee, coordinate and execute the functions of the Quality Assurance and Research and Development department. This manager will be an integral part of a dynamic and collaborative team that succeeds by providing strong leadership and managing the systems, equipment, people, and materials according to the established policies, procedures, specifications, and customer requirements.
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000
What You Get to Do
- Lead all activities for HACCP/Food Safety which includes developing, implementing, and verifying HACCP/Food Safety plans that comply with all USDA/FSIS, FDA, & Customer Requirements.
- Develop and maintain quality management SOPs policies, and in-process product quality evaluations and related systems (HACCP, SSOP, GMP, etc.) to assure product quality that meets customer expectations.
- Conduct both internal and external vendor audits on a frequency necessary to maintain food safe conditions and product quality expectations.
- Investigate and address Customer complaints; develop action plans to mitigate future issues and track issues.
- Lead/participate in projects or activities that modify or improve quality, food safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate practices in GMP, SOP, HACCP, Food Safety and Sanitation and equipment standards to ensure compliance with required standards.
- Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the QA & Sanitation departments.
- Maintain positive relations with USDA Inspector.
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to address food safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee the maintenance of records and documentation related to food safety activities, including HACCP plans, sanitation logs, and training records.
- Utilize both Chicago Meat Authority’s and third-party technologies to deliver key projects.
- Provide technical and culinary advice to senior management on advances and developments within the food universe that may be of benefit to Chicago Meat Authority.
- Provide technical and culinary support to the Sales group and to the Chicago Meat Authority’s customers in the completion of key projects.
- Keep abreast of new developments, product launches and market trends in the food industry.
- Ensure new product development fits in with existing manufacturing capabilities.
- Work with Operations to develop new processes / procedures where required to ensure successful scale up and production of products.
- Develop relationships with key customers. Improve collaboration with these stakeholders.
- Network with outside resources such as Universities and Consultants to keep up to date with ongoing research.
- Ensure all staff are aware and understand they are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.
- Conduct regulatory training for employees.
- Manage annual SQF audit and all other quality related audits.
- Attend to all other duties as assigned.
What We Want From You
- 5-10 years of FSQA leadership experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a goal-oriented production environment.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
