Job Overview
MassDevelopment is seeking a skilled Creative Content Manager for our Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) department. This hybrid position combines remote and in-office work.
Reporting to the TDI Deputy Director of Investments and Partnerships, you will collaborate with the TDI team, Community Development Division, and MassDevelopment’s Marketing and Communications Departments. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong background in content creation and management, capable of driving engagement and brand awareness through storytelling and digital community-building initiatives.
The role includes capturing program data, engaging with communities, documenting insights, creating case studies, and developing strategies. Additionally, you will support our TDI Fellows and Partnerships in local storytelling and communication efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead the TDI social media strategy, ensuring alignment with communication goals and coordination with the Agency Communications team.
- Create high-quality, engaging content for blogs, social media, newsletters, websites, and multimedia.
- Support community engagement and content exchange among TDI Districts and the TDI Creative Cities cohort.
- Coordinate and synthesize insights from focus groups, surveys, reports, case studies, community outreach, and site visits.
- Lead marketing, media, and storytelling efforts for district designation, project implementation, and partnership development within the TDI Creative Cities cohort.
- Support program evaluation to effectively communicate TDI’s community impact.
- Analyze community needs and provide strategic direction for information exchange, learning opportunities, and network building.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to enhance TDI visibility and boost stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct market research and data analysis to identify trends, audience preferences, and competitive landscape.
- Oversee TDI content publication across digital channels, including e-newsletters, website content, social media, visual identity, photo storage, SEO, and branding.
- Develop and manage a content calendar aligning with communication strategies, program circles, and local events.
- Plan, create, and coordinate program presentations and storytelling materials, including videography, written content, press releases, website materials, and email marketing.
- Ensure all content aligns with TDI brand values and messaging guidelines.
- Measure and analyze the performance of content initiatives to refine strategies and improve results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including MassDevelopment consultants, TDI Fellows, the TDI Central team, and the TDI Network.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on marketing strategies and content initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies
- Passion for small to mid-sized cities, urban planning, and community development.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, storytelling, public relations, or a related field in the public, private, or nonprofit sector (or a combination of relevant work experience and education).
- Demonstrated ability to support complex and varied fieldwork.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguous and fast-changing environments.
- Self-directed with strong project management skills.
- Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools.
- Experience managing and growing social media engagement and community.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of local economic development and public-private partnerships.
- Experience in community organizing and network development.
- Background in communications, public relations, marketing, or sales.
- Familiarity with Canva and/or Canva Pro.
- Knowledge of Canto, an online photo management tool.
- Experience with video editing and videography projects.
- Proficiency in a second language widely spoken in Gateway City
