Position Summary:
The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are defined in this section. The Refrigeration Technician will monitor, maintain and repair ammonia refrigeration equipment as well as other assigned building and infrastructure projects necessary to support operational up-time and performance. Must be able to work Monday through Friday and Saturdays.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures the safe operation of equipment and machinery, familiar with HMI process control and safety instrument systems.
Ensures safe use of tools and safety of others working in the immediate area.
Operates, repairs and maintains all assigned equipment, to include all ammonia equipment, compressed air, dehumidification equipment, cooling systems, air and water filters, plumbing, heat exchangers, water treatment, heaters, level controls and water systems.
Performs troubleshooting and repair electrical systems, electrical controls, electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers/fans.
Resolves equipment malfunctions by evaluating performance breakdowns, identifying root cause, safely repairing the equipment, and taking actions to prevent recurring failures.
Coordinates with the supervisor regarding all short-term repairs and long-term repairs to minimize production downtime.
Ensures all assigned work and preventative maintenance tasks are completed promptly.
Follows all permit to work instructions and documents all appropriate records to meet requirements set forth by OSHA, EPA, USDA and plant management.
Capable of using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking maintenance and compliance activities
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
Vocational Diploma, RETA certification, Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school, a plus.
Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift.
Can understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read, write the following; work orders, instructions, daily reports and machine manuals.
Ability to receive and relate orders/information using various communication devices.

The majority of the time is spent outside the office setting. The DC environment will include extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts/hi-lifts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, and precipitation.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the loading areas.
