ACCOUNT CLERK I (UTILITY BILLING) Part-Time
HOURS
This is a part-time position. The number of hours will vary weekly, but will always be between the hours of 6:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
PURPOSE
This position processes customer payments for the water department. Provides customer service for new service or maintenance on existing service. Requires bookkeeping principles to maintain fiscal records; performs other work as required. Employees in this class are under general supervision.
The employee will operate a computer, telephone, copier, calculator and other modern office equipment. The employee works in an indoor office environment.

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to use keyboard accurately on calculator and computer

Interacts with customers, and receives various forms of payment, cash, check, or credit card to post to customer account

Balances cash drawer, balances journals, and prints reports as required

Assists in collecting property tax and sanitation bills

Posts cash receipts for data processing for all water and sanitation customers

Handles a variety of customer complaints

Answers calls to the city directing individuals to the appropriate department

Keeps a variety of records and makes reports

Performs related work as assigned

Knowledge of state-of-the-art data processing equipment

Knowledge of principles, methods and application of bookkeeping

Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment

Ability to direct the flow of a considerable volume of detailed work

Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately
