Job Overview
We are looking for Line cooks and Prep cooks at Blue Ocean Harumama (La Jolla, CA). Our line cooks assist our chefs in executing our dishes efficiently and maintaining kitchen standards.
Wage
- Minimum wage for the first 50 hours
- $18 after the first 50 hours of training
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other food items.
- Assist in the preparation of menu items according to recipes and guidelines provided by the head chef or kitchen manager.
- Cook and assemble dishes accurately and efficiently during service times, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality standards.
- Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies and ingredients.
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures, including temperature control, storage, and labeling of food items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment, countertops, and storage areas.
- Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient operation during service.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head chef or kitchen manager.
Qualifications
- 1 year experience in a kitchen setting preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work in shifts
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry trays of food, beverages, other items weighing up to 0~50+ pounds.
- Bend, stoop, and reach to perform cleaning and stocking tasks.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
