Plant Manager
Company is seeking an on-site talented and engaged Plant Manager to lead our vertically integrated seafood manufacturing facility. This position has primary responsibility for overseeing daily site operations and pack products on schedule while achieving all quality standards and cost objectives. This is a key leadership position for the site: This role will lead an SQF certified, FDA LACF registered, facility. This role will be a hands-on, working manager with 6 direct manager level reports. In addition, the selected individual will provide leadership to project resources which may include project managers, engineers and technicians. Leadership responsibilities include providing daily guidance, feedback, coaching and mentorship to achieve success. The leadership responsibilities may grow as the organization grows.
You'll be part of a collaborative functional team: This position reports to the VP of Operations. The site leaders meet regularly to review company performance and share best practices and ideas.
Responsiblities:
· Ultimately responsible for the site’s safe work practices and environment.
· Actively involved in all aspects of the business and senior management including financial responsibility and strategic planning for operations.
· Collaborates with Sales and Production Scheduling to achieve successful production of finished goods.
· Manages, maintains and improves plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, production costs, backlogs, quality, rework and other related manufacturing statistics.
· Interfaces directly with customers and regulatory personnel during plant audits and inspections.
· Responsible for the hiring, development, and coaching of management employees to ensure the proper level of performance of all manufacturing personnel.
· Advises managers, supervisors, and leads on safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities for this Position:
· Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or Operations Management discipline or relevant experience.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in a food processing environment with progressive and multi-discipline experience leading to a management position.
· Experience in a highly regulated environment concerning perishable, canned and frozen foods.
· A demonstrated record of working effectively with Quality Systems, SAGE/Production Planning, Finance, Engineering and R&D.
· Education/experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Project Management.
· Thorough understanding of operational and standard cost accounting around financial aspects of manufacturing.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Bilingual a plus.
Physical Demands: Candidates should be able to function in both office and manufacturing environment. The majority of time will be spent in the manufacturing environment. Occasional travel may be required. Must be able to move throughout our facility safely and effectively and interact with employees. Willingness to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend, if required.
