Basic Position Objective Statement:
The Maintenance Supervisor directs millwrights and E&I associates in the maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment within the paper mill. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures all equipment is in good operating condition and preventative/predictive maintenance is done to provide maximum equipment uptime.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Oversee and manage the maintenance team providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure efficient and effective operations
- Assign scheduled work and oversee the daily direction of personnel relative to job safety, quality, and workmanship. Develop individual accountability for job completion and timeliness.
- Plan and manage maintenance days to ensure full utilization of craftsmen manpower to reduce subcontracted work.
- Manage and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper utilization
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment maintenance schedules
- Leverage department KPI’s to identify, prioritize, and mitigate risk that reduces unscheduled delay.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in maintenance operations, and recommend improvements or upgrades as necessary
- Promote a safe working environment through job-specific safety discussions.
- Work with area managers to address all safety issues in the appropriate timeframe.
- Provide assistance to engineering and outside consultants to develop plans for mechanical improvement and installations.
- Identify improvements in work practices and procedures utilized by the mechanical craft workers.
- Provide knowledge and assistance to mechanical crafts when necessary.
- Attend department/mill meetings to discuss the status of the current day’s schedule, develop the next day and next week’s schedule, and report on Maintenance Key Performance Indicators.
- Utilize a work order in any stage of its process.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Education and Training Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 3+ years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (paper mill preferred)
- Knowledge with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (including automation control, AC and DC drives, mechanical drives and systems, PLCs, sensors, and motor controls) and facilities systems.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of CMMS systems

Physical Requirements:
Exposure to or working in close proximity to operating machinery. Exposure to fine dust. Ability to wear required personal protection equipment (i.e. hearing, eye and foot protection). Must be able to see objects at a distance with clarity and read printed material within arm’s reach. Perceive colors accurately. Ability to shout to be heard above high noise levels. Stand, twist, bend, turn and kneel for up to 8 hours a day. Walk up to 200 yards at a time, up to 20 times per day. Climb stairs, approximately 15 steps, up to 10 times per day.
