The O’Neal School seeks a qualified Lower School Music Teacher. The major responsibility of the position is to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program according to the guidelines provided by the O’Neal School curriculum which guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The Lower School Music Teacher should be innovative, creative, and passionate about inspiring a love of music.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Have knowledge of, uphold, model, and communicate the mission of The O’Neal School.

Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons appropriate to each class.

Assess, record, and report on the development and progress of students.

Stay abreast of developments in the field through reading, research, and professional development, including faculty development days.

Liaise and collaborate with colleagues, including Division Head, Department Head, fellow teachers, counselor, and other resources.

Participate in sponsorship of student extracurricular activities, such as special performances and a lower school choral club.
Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Elementary Music Education.

A Master’s degree in Music Education is preferred.

Previous experience teaching music at the lower school level (grades Pre-K through 4).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills related to interactions with students, parents, and fellow teachers.

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and an adherence to timeliness.
