The company, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, has over 40 locations including laboratories, mines and quarries, paper mills, gypsum board, interior finishing products, cement board plants and sales regions.
We have an immediate need for a Maintenance Technician at our Duluth, GA ProForm Joint Compound manufacturing facility reporting to the Plant Manager.
In this position, you will be responsible for performing troubleshooting and repair techniques on manufacturing equipment, electrical/electronic and mechanical systems. You will also analyze, troubleshoot, build, maintain, repair and/or design complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, as well as complex computer operating systems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):
- Responsible for keeping Safety First for you and your co-workers.
- Assist in maintaining 24-hour/7-day maintenance support for production lines to prevent production downtime.
- Participate and assist in training for repair maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Must have determination to not just fix the breakdown, glitch, or malfunction but maintain focus to determine the root cause.
- Determine corrective action necessary to minimize downtime, increase productivity, and maintain continuity of operations.
- Establish priorities and schedule maintenance activities with the Plant Manager and management team.
- Responsible for keeping and tracking maintenance logbooks and inventory of spare parts and tools, replenishing as needed following NGC guidelines.
- Work with the Plant Manager to complete capital projects on time and within budget.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma; Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years industrial maintenance experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate a clear focus on safety as the main priority of the job
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills and demonstrated ability to determine root cause of equipment failure
- Strong electrical and fabrication skills with an ability to engineer and design solutions for process changes and must be able to use electrician’s tools and read electrical blueprints
- Strong working knowledge of PLC programming (preferably RS Logix 5000) and troubleshooting
- Positive attitude toward change and the ability to adapt and relate to the work environment and the associates
- The ability to organize and prioritize repairs
- Performs preventative maintenance utilizing company PM program
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are vital in maintaining an open and friendly working climate
- Willingness and ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to enforce all plant safety policies and procedures
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Ability to work off hours if required to maintain the up-time of the production line
- Self-directed individual.
- Good safety record.
- Experience using a personal computer with a Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work without assistance and direction in performing duties
- Must be able to climb ladders and perform overhead work
- Can promote and maintain a TEAM atmosphere
- Understands importance of serving internal customers
- Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.
