SUMMARY:
The WIC clerk provides clerical support to the WIC Nutritionist, Dietitian or designated “certified health professional” to provide quality food and nutrition services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects, verifies and records data for assessing WIC eligibility
- Maintenance of client files and clinic schedule
- Scheduling of appointments and follow-up on missed/upcoming appointments
- Provides client with information on use of food instruments and how to access and/or utilize WIC
- Issues and voids food instruments
- Refer eligible clients to Family Case Management
- Participate in outreach events
- Assists in referrals to appropriate agencies to assure continuity of client care
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Ensures NVRA requirements are met (National Voter Registration Act)
- Manages client correspondence
- Assist in the certification of clients by completing the Illinois WIC Client Certification Form per policy
This position requires compliance with all of Alivio’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and supervises staff listed below, including hiring, training, evaluating and managing performance to meet departmental efficiency and performance measures in keeping with the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Personnel Policies and Procedures and prevailing employment laws as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
OSHA Category 2 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but may require unplanned tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma of GED equivalent
Licensure:
Experience:
- Two years experience in CHC. Previous experience in WIC, including familiarity with Cornerstone system preferred

Demonstrated Competencies:
- Must demonstrate solid organizational skills and competency in office / clerical skills including accurate filing, keyboarding, record keeping and forms completion.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish
