Develop systems that support improvement in our business processes to respond more effectively to customer needs in a timely manner according to their required response times. This will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Current Cost Estimating tool(s) reside in a spreadsheet that will need to be utilized.
- Develop solutions that enable scaling of current systems to an SQL database, with HTLM interface.
- Further allow for reporting on business metrics and productivity establishing management dashboards with the use of Tableau or other appropriate applications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customers and sales to ensure all necessary documents for customer RFQ's are received and documented - drawings, specifications, CAD models, Directed-buy costs & suppliers, etc.
- Determines material, machines, routings, labor, and process requirements.
- Create and calculate product total cost estimates for sales and management to use for quoting, capacity planning for manpower availability & equipment utilization, tooling, and capital requirements.
- Interacts with Customers, Sales, Mfg. Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and others to obtain and provide information necessary to resolve issues and establish an accurate estimate.
- Establishes setup and run rates and related cost data.
- Enter all relevant data into a computerized quote program.
- Presents a formalized cost estimate to Sales which is used to establish selling prices to bid on future profitable work.
- Consolidates large program cost details into a summary for extended labor and equipment capacity prior to quoting.
- Supports customers ad-hoc cost analysis requests for should-costs / cost transparences templates.
- Present a positive and respectful professional image towards customers and co-workers and make decisions based on company policies and processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Experience and Skills:
- 3 – 5 years directly related experience with SQL databases, HTLM interface or other, streamlining business process to support cost estimation. Must have experience evaluating BOM’s against engineering drawings, working directly with Manufacturing Engineering for Design for Manufacturing. Strong interpersonal skills that enable engaging with suppliers for quotes that support cost estimation. strong negotiation skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong follow-up skills, and experience working in an ERP system (Dynamics is a bonus).
- Understanding of Cost Accounting a plus.
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with FlySpeed or other software applications that enable API connections to our ERP database into SQL tables.
Education/Certification:
- A high school diploma is required and a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field related to Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science strongly preferred.
