Paraprofessional Educator

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the mission and vision of the school are demonstrated in all actions.
- Help to ensure and foster the highest quality educational experience of special education and/or assigned student(s).
- Comply with all school policy and procedure.
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and/or instructor(s).
- Help to ensure and foster the educational, social, and emotional development of special education and/or other student(s) as assigned.
- Assist in enforcement of all behavior management as well as school-wide and classroom reward system policies.
- Assist in providing direct instruction and provide special education students with services, modifications, accommodations, and supplementary aids in compliance with student's’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and best practice.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Collaborate and work with related service providers, such as speech therapist, social worker, occupational and physical therapists.
- Prepare all written reports as required.
- Collaborate and work with special education and general education instructors to ensure individual student needs are consistently met and addressed on a daily basis.
- Engage in effective and appropriate classroom management.
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from leadership and instructional coaches.
- Help to provide instructional opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to provide a student.
- Assist in helping teachers overcome obstacles in the delivery of quality services to students having a variety of disabilities.
- Deliver specific services required by individual education plans.
- Help teachers prepare any necessary reports.
- Assist instructor with maintenance of student records, as directed.
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
- Assist in the preparation and display of student work, as directed.
- Assist instructor with copying items and/or preparing materials in order to support teaching.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
- Monitor work, correct papers, and supervise curriculum-based testing and make-up work as assigned by certified staff.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.
- Use excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students and colleagues.
- Attend all required professional development.
- Assist instructor in providing an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and Paraprofessional license.
- Positive, solution-focused individual with a growth mindset.

- Demonstrated ability to engage the interest of school-aged children.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse children, including those with special needs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers/staff.
- Demonstrated success in encouraging parental involvement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
