The crown jewel of Newport Coast, The Beachcomber Café, is a high-volume, beachside restaurant located on the sands of the Historical District of Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Coast. Don’t let the quaint surroundings of the Cottages and soothing beach waves fool you, our busy restaurant is bustling as we serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for over 1,000 guests each day. We are a “Special Occasion Restaurant” for many of our guests, and local favorite dining and drinking spot for others. Our amazing Service and Culinary teams have helped us earn various awards including those from TripAdvisor (Top 10% Restaurants Worldwide for 2022) and OpenTable (Diner’s Choice Award for multiple years in a row).
We are open rain or shine, all year round. In addition to the Beachcomber Café and Bootlegger Bar, we also provide Beach Rentals during the day, rent Fire pits on the Beach at night, run a Takeout Express tent during the summer and have a full Catering department.

We are looking for full time managers to work 5 shifts a week. Shifts average 10 hours a day depending on the level of business (9am-7pm, 10am-8pm and 2pm-Midnight, 3pm-1am). We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
Attire and Grooming Standards prohibit visible tattoos and facial piercings. No ear piercings for Men.
You will help supervise the operation of the Restaurant, Full Bar, Catering, Transportation and Beach Services. We supervise a staff of over 85 team members.
Position: Restaurant Assistant Manager
Summary: Assistant Manager is responsible for the management of Dining Areas, Beach Services, Full Bar, and assists in catering events. This includes ultimate responsibility for assuring a high standard of appearance, hospitality, service and cleanliness of the dining area and bar, training staff, managing within budgetary constraints, and developing and implementing programs to increase revenues.
Reports to: General Manager Duties: Staff Hiring, Training, Scheduling and Supervision
· Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff including conducting personal evaluations and reviews; promote a "team" approach to all events.
· Partner with Catering Manager and Chef to make sure events are successful.
· Inspect staff to ensure that they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times
· Serve as liaison between the dining room and kitchen staff
· Make suggestions about improvements in food and bar service procedures
Guest Service
· Take responsibility for menu appearance and printing
· Supervise dining room and bar staff to help assure proper service
· Assist in service and tableside cookery as needed
· Receive and resolve complaints concerning food, beverages, and service
Facilities and Equipment
· Assure the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of all dining and bar areas, equipment and fixtures
· Make suggestions about improvements in food and beverage
· Check the maintenance of all equipment in the dining areas and report deficiencies and maintenance concerns to the General Manager
· Assure that all sidework is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule
· Maintain monthly inventory of dining room and bar items including plate ware, flatware, glass ware, and other serving items
