Floating Manager – Boston Area
L.A. Burdick Chocolates, celebrated for its exquisite artisanal chocolates, pastries, beverages, and unique café/retail environments, is recruiting for a professional and driven leader to work with the existing Boston and Cambridge store managers to enhance and support operational proficiencies and service delivery across these thriving businesses. This position requires skills and traits that include proficiency and thoroughness in practice, perseverance and motivation, focus, consistency and strong people and organizational skills, diplomacy, and determination. Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Build a motivated and skilled team through effective recruiting, selection, and on-boarding.
- Lead ongoing training and development of all team members, providing feedback, mentoring, and assessment.
- Cultivate an environment and culture that provides rewarding work experience, fostering growth and high performance.
Sales & Customer Experience
- Ensure brand integrity is upheld at the store by maintaining a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment for customers and team members and maintaining visual presentation that is consistent with the company standards.
- Demonstrate exceptional sales leadership and customer service by playing an active role on the floor.
- Communicate L.A. Burdick’s passion and philosophy to customers.
- Have a deep understanding of L.A. Burdick products and brand.
Store Financial Performance
- Drive strong financial performance to achieve or exceed sales and profitability targets.
- Understanding of direct store profit.
- Implement improvements to increase profitability.
- Manage store inventory and cash discrepancies.
Operations
- Uphold the company’s high operational standards and ensure compliance with all company policies.
- Comfortable working on the retail/café floor, supporting and mentoring staff and enhancing service delivery.
- Leads by example.
- Proficiently help manage day-to-day operations of the store, including inventory care and management, ordering, and receiving, banking, expense management, team scheduling and payroll, among others
- Communicate effectively with Store Managers, Senior Management, and various departments, which include HR, Finance, Marketing, IT, and Shipping
Skills, Traits and Experiences
- Ability to build and sustain an environment/culture that our employees take pride in
- Ability to manage staff in terms of training and development to decrease turnover.
- Managerial experience in food service, retail, or hospitality required.
- Enthusiasm for fine food, quality, and hospitality
- Experience managing and collaborating with diversely skilled team members with varying experiences.
- Understanding of financial fundamentals within a restaurant or retail store operation
- Proven track record in sales
- Ability to work safely and keep employees and customers safe.
- Honest, responsible, hardworking, and committed
- Professional and effective communication skills and capability in connecting with all levels of the organization.
- Well-organized with an eye for detail.
- Excellent customer service and engagement skills.
- Experience in POS system and computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Food safety certification preferred, not required.
- A flexible schedule with availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on need.
- Ability to stand and walk for a full shift.
- Ability to use hands, wrists, and fingers to operate the espresso machine, cash register, among others.
- Ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach above shoulder level and below waist level to, for example, grab boxes or cups.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs

Salary
This is a full-time salaried position which includes a performance based bonus. Starting pay based on experience. Please include a Cover Letter with your resume.
