BioSafe Systems is seeking an experienced Lab Assistant to join their research & development team. You will be assisting with day-to-day lab testing related to evaluation of BioSafe Systems products and its applications. What you would be doing:
- Processing water and soil samples for microbiology (Detection and enumeration of microorganisms) and product evaluations for their anti-microbial efficacy
- Creating lab study reports and timely communication of reports and results to sales personnel/customers/end users
- Preparing culture media, broth and agar
- Developing and maintaining protocols for proper culturing and maintaining of specific microorganisms
- Assisting with new product development and improvement
- Creating and maintaining proper lab SOP’s and lab records
- Performing basic non-microbiology related tasks such as titrations, water quality measurements (Ex. pH, alkalinity etc.) and working with commercial chemical test kits
- Understanding, identifying and maintaining chemical product labels, SDS and certificate of analyses.
- Performing quality control as directed by Lab Director/QA/QC manager
- Cleaning and maintaining work area and all lab equipment and supplies
- Taking notes, recording data and results, and organizing documentation
- Transferring data and results from notes and recording to proper computer formats
- Organizing and maintaining lab storage, samples, and specimens
- Following all health and safety regulations when handling laboratory specimens
- Ordering and storing lab supplies and equipment
- Performing clerical and administrative duties as needed
- Understanding lab projects and gathering proper information for successful initiation and completion of assigned projects
- Conducting laboratory tests, analyze, and categorize results
- Recording and documenting analysis results, report results and variations to supervisor
- Complying with all lab procedures, processes, and methodologies
- Assisting senior Lab Assistant and Director of Research and Development with additional duties as needed
Highly qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences or Microbiology
- Background in Chemistry is a plus
- Minimum 2 years of experience in similar roles.
- Must have excellent communication and report writing skills and be able to work in a team environment while at the same time being able to work independently.
- Proficient in basic and advanced lab microbiology test methods and procedures
- Skilled in microbiology techniques, terminology, equipment and supplies
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Knowledge and skills related proper isolation and maintenance of microbial cultures
- Knowledge and skills in basic chemistry, titration and test procedures
- Strong attention to detail, ability to solve problems and communicate issues
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work on a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
