Peacock Therapeutic School (PTS) is a brand new therapeutic day school and has an immediate opening for full-time Special Education Teacher!! PTS is a sister company to Newline Behavioral Solutions (NBS) and our program is housed within their clinic located conveniently in Addison, IL-right off 355 & Army Trail exit. PTS is committed to providing the best education for neurodiverse learners who would better be served in a small program setting utilizing the principles of ABA for behavioral interventions.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education (Special Education) from an accredited college or university.
- Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavioral Specialist (LBSl) endorsement.
- A minimum of 1-2 years' experience teaching, with experience in special education, crisis invention and alternative school settings preferred; must have instructional and assessment skills, with majority of experience focused on the special education population preferred.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
- Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all PTS students & staff
- Basic computer proficiency including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs (ex: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, Embrace IEP, Blackbaud LMS, Google GSuite, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe
- Adheres to the policies and procedures of PTS.
Duties:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Provide instruction in various subjects, such as behavioral health, behavioral therapy, physical education, and math
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments to instructional strategies
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Utilize specialized techniques and interventions to support students with behavioral challenges
- Provide guidance and support to students in developing social skills and self-regulation
- Assess student performance through formal and informal assessments
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students with diverse needs
- Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies based on individual student needs
- Strong organizational skills to manage paperwork, IEPs, and student records
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
