Position Overview:
As a Blending Room Operations Helper, you will provide general support to the blending department's daily operations. You will work in a modern, highly efficient, and climate-controlled environment, operating ergonomically designed equipment such as IBC container mixers, mobile mills, and lifts to mix, mill, sift, and granulate powder ingredients for dietary supplements and functional food formulas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting and supporting ergonomic mixing, milling, sifting, and granulation processing for the preparation of a wide variety of dry nutritional and food powder ingredients in accordance with GMP and safety regulations.
- Assisting with the operation of HMI-controlled IBC mixing equipment, hammer/knife mills, cone mill, cone sifter, rotary sifter, roller compactor, mobile drum lifter, tilting lifts, and pallet jacks/forklifts.
- Making blends and accurately adding raw materials to batches (requires repetitive heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.).
- Assisting and supporting the processing of dry bulk powdered raw materials by following Master Batch records and recipes to create final products.
- Adhering to and following written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) to ensure the quality and quantity of products you process.
- Performing the work under the direction of the blending room supervisor and blending room technicians.
Typical Work Assignments of Blending Room Operations Assistant:
- Assisting with the assembly and connecting of rotary powder valves, dosage valves, mills, sifters, flex connections, screens, etc.
- Observing and monitoring operations during blending, sifting, milling, and granulation.
- Always using good sanitary techniques and practices to ensure product quality.
- Executing tasks in accordance with MBRs (Master Batch Records), SOPs, work instructions, and product-specific batch records.
- Assisting with cleaning and sanitizing equipment and the manufacturing areas during normal operations and at the end of the shift.
- Documenting/recording all performed cleaning and sanitization steps as required.
- Assisting blending room techs and supervisors by observing equipment malfunctions to ensure that product attributes, such as weights and mixing, are correct.
- Reporting any product quality issues.
- Ensuring that safe work practices are employed.
- Reporting unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the manufacturing and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Previous food/chemical manufacturing or similar mixing, blending, milling, sifting, and/or granulation experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required, with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure (mcg, mg, gram, lbs., kilos).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with cGMP requirements and/or FDA regulations.
- Dedication to excellence and quality.
- Willingness to train a person with previous work experience related to cGMP production or FDA work environment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods, as well as climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, and walk.
- Able to stand up and walk up to eight hours per shift.
