Overview: The Maintenance Technician Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of all facilities within the school premises. They are responsible for supervising a team of maintenance technicians, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively to maintain a safe and functional environment conducive to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Delegate tasks and assignments effectively, ensuring that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all facilities, including classrooms, offices, recreational areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and importance, ensuring that critical issues are addressed promptly.
- Coordinate with school administration to plan maintenance activities around academic schedules and events.
- Facilities Maintenance:
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and address any safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols.
- Budget Management:
- Assist in the development of annual maintenance budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or safety standards.
- Source and procure necessary supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with budgetary constraints.
- Vendor Management:
- Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services or repairs.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms for the school.
- Maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, invoices, and service agreements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or vocational training in maintenance or facilities management preferred.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school staff, students, and external vendors.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position
- Work may involve exposure to various weather conditions and the need to perform tasks both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be available for on-call duties as needed.
