Friends x Family is looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic Lead Carpenter and Senior Fabricator to join our talented team.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS
- Execution and fabrication of shop drawings provided by direct supervisors and Project Managers.
- Coordinating progress with Carpenters, Project Manager, Shop Director and updating calendar and schedule as needed
- Overseeing workflow of carpenters and personally assigned projects in the shop or onsite.
- Regular requested / unrequested communication with supervisors on all aspects of the project’s progress.
- Continued oversight of fabrication processes.
- Practicing a high skill level of woodworking and diverse material fabrication in accordance with FXF practices.
- Assisting Carpenters in learning and applying woodworking and diverse material fabrication techniques.
- Final quality control inspection with direct supervisor of all units before delivery.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years minimum experience is required in either a professional shop setting or personal business.
- 3 years minimum experience in a supervisory role
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Showing up on time and ready to work for all designated days and hours scheduled.
- Conduct oneself with a professional problem-solving mentality, keep the clients' best interest in mind, and always look for solutions to ease tensions if they arise with clients or crew.
- Should be adept at referencing materials, rapid prototyping, assembly methods, coordinating build schedules, and ensuring the crew remains informed and supported.
- Monitor machine and output compatibility.
- Coordinate regularly with Technical Designer/CNC and Project Manager
- Conduct quality control review of all units before wrap and delivery.
- Communicate all needs and support actions with the direct supervisor.
- Provide and explain shop drawings to all Carpenters after initial introduction by either a direct supervisor or Project Manager.
- Communicate workflow to direct supervisor as needed based on progress, and material availability.
- Developing samples and fabrication techniques
- Dictating fabrication methods to fabrication team
- Update direct supervisor of all milestones including completion dates, revisions, and progress.
- Coordinate with direct supervisor for onsite FXF deliveries and installations.
- Relay progress for all onsite work to the direct supervisor and everyone at EOD.
- Maintain general shop cleanliness and organization (e.g. machines, hand tools, hardware, projects in progress, etc.)
- Maintain all tools and machinery (e.g. replaced dull blades to send out, replaced broken tools, etc.)
- Listing low inventory of sundries needing restocking to the direct supervisor.
- It is each team member's personal responsibility to make any and all issues known to Human Resources for further review and mediation if necessary. These conversations are confidential and for the sole purpose of creating a healthy and safe environment for all FxF team members.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
BENEFITS (Full Time)
- $150 monthly medical insurance reimbursement (Health Reimbursement Agreement) with proof of qualifying health plan, starting after 90 days of employment.
- End of fiscal year bonus based on performance, and number of months worked in that fiscal year.
- 10 paid annual vacation days.
- Paid holiday break (Shop closes from 12/23 and reopens the first Monday of January).
- Shop use following a designated probationary period.
