This position is seasonal, with the potential of becoming a full-time employee. The position is for 2nd shift from 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm. The hourly rate is $20.50.
The Machine Operator reports to the Line Leader assigned to their area in a food processing environment and is responsible for oversight of their production machine(s), helping to assist in completing daily production quotas, filling and submitting machine operator paperwork daily, and adherence to all policies, procedures, and protocols within their department and having open communication with Line Leads on their line to inform of any issues which are directly affecting the current production run and overall efficiency. Continuous spot checks on machinery to ensure optimal efficiency and escalate as needed. Load Run Numbers into the machine and verify that correct information corresponds with the Work Order. Be vigilant when entering product bags and advise the Line Leads to correct if needed. Use old or partial products first (Netting, Film, Labels) to control excess material at the end of the day. Clearing machine of product and cleaning area of debris at day end.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify, review, and distribute work orders with material handling and quality control personnel.
- Arrive early to set up machines for proper production run.
- Monitor machine(s) to calibrate as needed to increase bag output.
- Utilizing partial rolls of netting and film first to decrease excess material daily.
- Inputting and validating the information on the D-Pack label (which must correspond with the current online order).
- Fill out Machine Operator paperwork (per work order run) to validate that correct information is placed on labels.
- Testing machine operation daily and escalating major issues to Line Lead or Manager.
- Availability to utilize cellular application to submit Work Tickets for Maintenance staff (optional)
- Verifying all fruit is cleared from the top of the machine (hopper) before running another order.
- Uploading information from the machine onto a USB Drive at the end of the day and submitting it to the office staff for upload.
- Clearing all material from the machine at the end of the day and cleaning assigned areas of debris (Netting, fruit, etc.)
- Extra responsibilities may be required, depending on the company’s needs.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Knowledge of Newtec & Daumar machinery preferred.
- High School diploma or GED
- Weekends required as needed.
- 1 year of experience in a machine operator role preferred.
- Excellent math skills (must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide)
- Highly developed critical thinking/problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Weekends required as needed.

- Ability to lift, push, pull, and grasp up to 50 lbs. while standing and kneeling.
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice.
