Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel is currently seeking a Test Lead for test environment and test data management, in a manger role, for Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE) in El Segundo, CA. This role will be a member of a dynamic team focused on Standardized & Predictable Test engagement, drive effective utilization of automation skillsets and continuously improve and innovate, developing and enriching QA assets. The TCOE test lead/manager will be involved in driving test engagements across multiple strategic projects ensuring TCOE guidelines are being followed across various phases of testing. . This position reports directly into the Director, Operations and Test services. This role is a specialized role focused on managing and architecting test data and environments for software testing purposes within an organization. Their primary responsibility is to design, develop, and maintain test data management strategies, test environment configurations and solutions to support various testing activities across the software development lifecycle. This includes identifying and defining test data requirements, creating and maintaining test data repositories, and implementing data provisioning processes across the enterprise. This individual works closely with testing teams, development teams, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs, ensure data integrity, and work with respective system teams to provide appropriate data sets for testing scenarios. Additionally, they may be involved in implementing data masking, anonymization, or obfuscation techniques to protect sensitive data used across systems. This individual works with system teams to manage the environments across systems in an integrated manner. This person is responsible for designing, and managing the test environments required for software testing within an organization in a meaningful and integrated manner. Their primary role is to ensure that testing activities are conducted in environments that closely mirror the production environment, enabling accurate and reliable testing results. Key responsibilities would include laying framework and collaborating with development teams, testing teams, and other stakeholders to understand their environment requirements and ensure that test environments meet their needs. This also entails driving the environment provisioning processes and tools for provisioning and managing test environments efficiently and effectively, including automation where possible.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Enterprise test environment Strategy supporting Program delivery:

Develop an enterprise test framework for identifying and defining test data requirements, creating and maintaining test data repositories, and implementing data provisioning processes across the enterprise

Develop and implement comprehensive enterprise test data and environment strategies, plans, and schedules.

Collaborate with IT, development, and testing teams to prioritize, create and manage multiple test environments

Monitor and manage environment resources, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
Configuration management and Reporting:

Implement and manage configuration management processes for test environments.

Ensure that all environment configurations are documented and maintained.

Implement monitoring tools and practices to ensure environment stability.

Identify, troubleshoot and resolve environment-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Communicate environment status, issues, and changes to relevant stakeholders.
Enterprise test data strategy & planning

Develop and implement test data management framework to align with strategies and plans.

Ensure test data requirements are gathered collaboration with testing, business and development teams or other stakeholders.

Ensure test data is aligned with test objectives and scenarios.

Test data provisioning & management
-
Provision and manage test data across multiple environments and projects.

Create, maintain, and refresh test data sets to support testing activities.

Ensure test data integrity and consistency across environments.

Implement data masking and anonymization techniques to protect sensitive data.

Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
-
Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure test data security.

Implement and manage test data management tools and automation.

Develop scripts and processes to automate test data creation and maintenance.

Continuously improve test data management processes through automation and best practices.

Stakeholder, Partner & Vendor Management
-
Coordinate with development teams, release management to manage software releases and updates in test environments.
-
Manages delivery of IT projects/solution delivery and maintenance tracks by collaborating and driving the outsourced partner to successful delivery of contractual obligations with predefined SLAs

Collaborate with Software Engineering Leaders, Project Managers, Product Managers, and others to ensure smooth integration of QA into the SDLC.

Act as a quality champion by striving for excellence and driving continual improvements within the team.

Collaboration with QA Director and drive Quality initiatives and promote Quality awareness and mindset

Provides executive leadership updates and facilitates issue/risk escalations. Manages competing stakeholder interests and makes appropriate choices when confronted with conflicts.
Testing tools & best practices for Quality assurance

Research and stay up to date on the latest tools, technologies, trends, and approaches with the QA space and incorporating the ones that make sense. Implement automation and tools to streamline environment setup and management.

Continuously assess and improve test environment and test data management processes.
-
Identify and assess risks related to software quality and project timelines.
-
Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
-
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of senior test engineers.
-
Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of testing activities.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Establishes courses of action for assigned junior team members to ensure that work is completed effectively and efficiently.

Develops and leverages collaborative relationships to advance work
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
-
12+ years relevant experience in Quality Assurance & Testing
-
Proven experience as a Test Environment Manager or in a similar role.
-
Strong understanding of software development and testing processes.
-
Experience with environment management tools and technologies.
-
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
-
Familiarity with DevOps practices. Experience in Retail or Consumer Products, supporting Oracle products and OCI
-
Proven experience as a Test Data Manager or in a similar role.

Strong understanding of data management principles and practices.
-
Experience with test data management tools and technologies.
-
Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
-
Knowledge of data masking and anonymization techniques.

Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.

Experienced in managing quality & metrics, risks/issues, QA Effort estimates, QA Audits, TCOE Tools and Process, Automation Planning

Stakeholder management, Integration & Maintenance of TCOE with Operating Model working along with Leadership Team & PMO

Drive Delivery Transformation & Innovation, Best practices implementation

Experienced in Test Strategizing and Test Planning for large strategic programs

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate and articulate to stakeholders and management across multiple business functions

Solid understanding of Functional, Non-Functional, Integration, System, Regression, and End to End testing

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions

A strong passion for quality, an unrelenting attention to detail, and the proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

The annual base salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $165,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
