Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced (2-5 years) and professional Shipper/Receiver to join our small company. We manufacture awards and gifts for corporate recognition programs. Think award ceremonies like the Oscars! Our products are hand-made in our factory, often of fragile materials, and the position requires extra attention to quality, careful product packaging, and tight event deadlines that cannot be missed. Candidates should be highly organized, fast-paced, and comfortable in Excel, UPS and FedEx shipping software. The Shipping Specialist will plan and coordinate all daily shipping, prep and box merchandise, create and apply shipping labels, plan and stage future shipments, receive all incoming packages, and deliver them to appropriate inventory locations or personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Run and review daily ship reports, plan shipping day/week accordingly
- Sort orders per customer guidelines and Quality Guidelines
- Prepare and print shipping labels
- Track Shipping Department inventory daily and report shortages to Purchasing Department
- Assemble and fill boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped
- Process orders based on buyer's preferred shipping system (UPS, FedEx, UPS, Freight, Courier, etc.)
- Contact carrier and schedule shipping when recquired
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Receive Inventory following established procedures and deliver to proper locations
- Other duties as assigned*
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion and on-time shipping
- 2-5 Years experience in shipping
- Able to lift 70 lbs.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment without supervision while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of Computers and Shipping Systems (UPS, FedEx)
- High comfort level in Excel (file manipulation, sorting, exporting for import into shipping systems, etc.)
- Fork Truck Certification preferred but will train.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
