Receptionist /Medical Assistant
Women’s Wellness Center is a growing gynecology and aesthetic practice seeking an experienced and highly motivated Receptionist/Medical Assistant. We are looking for a team member who will play a vital role in providing quality patient care, and assisting our healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet all patients and visitors into the practice
- Answer phone and schedule appointments
- Register patients, including demographic and insurance information
- Check insurance eligibility
- Collect payments and balances
- Monitor and work to fill provider schedules by creating and following up on overdue/unscheduled/wait lists
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality
- Prepare medical record for patient visit
- Perform vital signs measurements, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Perform phlebotomy and other point of care tests as needed
- Ensure proper coding of medical procedures for billing purposes
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow infection control protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment
Qualifications/Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in administrative and phone skills
- Knowledge of Athena Health medical record system highly preferred
- Proficiency in electronic medical record system required
- Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel, required
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology
- Minimum 1-year medical secretary/receptionist and medical assistant experience required
- Able to transition easily between role of receptionist and medical assistant
- Comprehension of insurance types and referral process
- Comprehension of patient registration
- Ability to interpret information as appropriate, answer routine questions professionally, and communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner
- Must be kind, respectful and empathetic with patients, giving attention to patients' needs and concerns under all circumstances.
- Ability to multitask effectively, follow established protocols, work within systems, and complete tasks in a timely manner
- High school diploma required
