SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, Driver II will transport adults with developmental disabilities to and from Desert Arc facilities and other assigned locations. Driver II will follow a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule. Driver II will regulate the heating equipment and ventilation of the vehicle for the comfort of passengers. Drivers II are responsible for the safety of the passengers in loading and unloading and transportation to and from destinations. Driver II will keep the vehicle clean by ensuring that the vehicle is free of debris and odors. Driver II must inspect the vehicle before starting each route for such things as water, gas, oil and mechanical condition, etc., and must inspect the vehicle inside and out after each route. Driver II will keep operational records and report any defects or problems to their supervisor before starting their route.
REQUIREMENTS:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Commercial Driver License with Passenger Endorsement
· First Aid and CPR Certification
· CHP Special Drivers Certificate (VDDP)
· Clean DMV Clear background check and pass DOT Alcohol and Substance Abuse testing
· Attend all safety and required training classes
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
· Safely transport clients to and from Desert Arc
· Be courteous and assist clients boarding the bus and be professional in conduct and appearance at all times
· Ensure staff and clients on board are seated and buckled in before putting vehicle in motion
· Ensure that vehicle has all required documentation and Current including registration, insurance, accident reporting kit, gas card.
· Complete daily trip sheet turned in filled out properly and legibly and turned in daily
· Ensure clients weekly attendance is filled out and turned in every Friday
· Complete daily vehicle inspections, complete required vehicle logs, and complete vehicle condition reports on a daily basis
· Inspect vehicles at the beginning and end of each route to ensure vehicle is safe to operate
· Ensures vehicle has reflective triangles, fire extinguisher (charged) and sign of monthly
· Ensures First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen kits are full and updated
· Report in writing any mechanical problems on a pre-trip and post-trip inspection form
· Ensure vehicle is washed weekly, and inside of vehicle is maintained daily
· Ensure serviceable tie downs and working wheelchair lift daily, and that all seat belts are working properly, wheelchair tie-downs procedures are followed at all times
· Ensures vehicle is fueled daily or as needed
· Ensure driver credentials are current and updated, license, VDDP, CPR and First Aid, DOT physical
· Ensure all mandated training is completed within the required timeframe provided
· Other duties as assigned
Work Environment:
This position requires community driving and supervising clients in a variety of public/community settings.
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The employee must have the ability to lift, pull, push, run and manipulate/use adaptive equipment and patients, which requires strength and gross motor and fine motor coordination. The employee must be able to perform CPR and administer First-Aid. The position requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. The position requires ability to operate a commercial vehicle with wheelchair access. The employee must be able to climb stairs and provide services to clients in various public/community settings.
Note duties are subject to change due to agency growth or restructure. Daily operations are also subject to change based on outcome measurements of systems incorporated to program operations.
