Job Overview:
We are a new nonprofit cat sanctuary seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team. We created the Puna Cat Sanctuary to help save the native bird population in Hawaii that is being threatened by feral cats. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess a strong background in veterinary medicine.
Duties:
- Conduct thorough examinations and provide accurate diagnoses for various animals
- Develop and implement treatment plans for animals based on diagnosis
- Perform surgical procedures as needed
- Prescribe medications and follow-up care instructions
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
- Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, and outcomes
Skills:
- Proficiency in feline care
- Strong Animal handling skills
- Knowledge of Veterinary terminology
- Experience with Laboratory procedures
- Familiarity with Pet grooming techniques
- Understanding of Practice management in a veterinary setting
- Expertise in Animal care and welfare
- Ability to handle Animal restraint when necessary
- Knowledge of Animal physiology and anatomy
- Proficient in Aseptic technique for surgeries
This position offers the opportunity to work with a passionate and up and coming nonprofit, in a rural area that is desperately in need of help and services. Our primary need is a veterinarian who can perform spay and neuter surgeries to help stop the overpopulation that is greatly affecting Hawaii's delicate ecosystem. At our sanctuary, you will be providing medical care to cats, helping with TNR, and improving their quality of life, as well as helping save the native birds snd other animals being threatened by the feral cats. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
