The Senior Systems Administrator, Platform services will be responsible for driving the expert installation/configuration, operation, and support of storage and server systems, including their migration from on-premises to the cloud. The Senior Systems Administrator will collaborate with a broad range of customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units to provide best in class systems solutions. This role will lead provisioning, monitoring, upgrading, and capacity planning for the storage environment, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations for stability, remediating system outages, and ensuring compliance with data security and university policies.
The Senior Systems Administrator will also play an integral role in the migration of on-premises server capabilities into a cloud-computing environment. This role will manage urgent and complex issues by setting customer expectations, devising, and implementing action plans, being available as required and professionally communicating to all parties involved. The Senior Systems Administrator, Platform services will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by ensuring UCLA's IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the university's academic mission. Qualifications

Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields: systems administration, information technology, network operations, or a related field. (Required)
- Experience and deep knowledge with networking, routing, firewalls, subnets, subdomains, VLANs, and VxLANs. (Required)
- Experience and in depth knowledge of working in SAN, NAS, DASD, fiber channel, and cloud storage environments. (Required)
- Proven experience provisioning, migrating, and utilizing cloud storage and servers. (Required)
- Significant experience in server, storage, and systems administration. (Required)
- Extensive experience with monitoring, auditing, tuning, and analysis and optimization of system performance, security and capacity planning, patching, and upgrades. (Required)
- Extensive experience with installing, configuring, modifying, and supporting Windows and Linux operating systems and virtualization technologies, such as VMware. (Required)
- Extensive experience with Linux, Windows, and cloud platform automation and orchestration methodologies and tools. (Required)
- Extensive experience troubleshooting across the entire storage path from the host to the SAN/NAS storage devices and across complex network topologies. (Required)
- Extensive experience with Windows and Linux. Proven experience publishing performance reports and recommending enhancements or modifications. (Required)
- Extensive experience planning for future storage needs across a business application community in a collaborative way. (Required)
- Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
- Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: systems administration, information technology or network operations. (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment
This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).
The anticipated pay range for this position is $130,500-$145,000, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist.
