Position: Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HR Generalist to join our client's plaintiff personal injury law firm. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of human resources functions. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant HR experience, an understanding of HR best practices, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive work environment for the staff.
We also welcome candidates with 3-5 years of experience in lower capacity roles, such as HR coordinator.
Location:
This position can be based out of either of our client's Chicago offices but will involve visiting both.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and conducting initial screenings.
- Coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates to schedule interviews and provide relevant information.
- Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment through employee engagement initiatives.
HR Administration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronically and in physical files.
- Prepare and distribute HR-related documents, including employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluation forms.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Support benefits administration by assisting employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to health, dental, retirement, and other benefits.
- Assist in the annual compensation review process by gathering data and preparing relevant reports.
Compliance and Policies:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Performance Management:
- Assist in the performance management process by tracking performance reviews and providing support to managers.
- Help monitor and document employee performance and progress.
Employee Offboarding:
- Manage the offboarding process, including exit interviews and necessary paperwork.
Special Projects:
- Contribute to HR-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving overall HR processes and the employee experience.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in an HR generalist capacity
- Understanding of HR principles, practices, and legal regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Paylocity is a plus; Microsoft Office Suite experience is a must
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
