We are seeking a Barge Maintenance Planner Assistant. Position can be in either Channelview or Liberty, TX office.
Blessey Marine Services, Inc. owns and operates one of the youngest multi-faceted inland tank barge and vessel fleets in the United States.
JOB TITLE: Planner Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Barge Maintenance
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Provide clerical support to the Planners Office of the Barge Maintenance Department. Use all available systems and tools to facilitate repair and maintenance activities for the Blessey barge fleet.
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Barge Maintenance Office Manager
Supervises: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
- Process all preventative maintenance paperwork.
- Maintain additional reports for Barge Maintenance as required using SAP and Excel.

Open, update and close work orders, as needed.

Assist with completing Freshwater and Polymerizing Cargo forms, as needed and in preparation for US Coast Guard inspections.

Assist with filing incident reports in correct locations.

File and scan documents.

Answer incoming calls taking accurate notes, asking questions and providing messages to the planner(s) and Barge Maintenance Manager.

Assist with special projects and other assignments within Barge Maintenance, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to read, write and speak clearly in the English language.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- One (1) to Two (2) years of Clerical experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams.

High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Knowledge of office administration procedures.
- Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
- Attention to detail in data entry.
- Meet deadlines.
- Proficient spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
