Job Position: Intellectual Property (IP) Law Consultant

I. Position Summary
The IP Law Consultant at Open Artificial Intelligence Inc. plays a crucial role in protecting and optimizing the company's intellectual property assets, particularly within the dynamic realm of artificial intelligence. She is responsible for conducting in-depth research on IP issues, drafting memoranda that guide internal strategy, and assisting in the review and drafting of IP agreements and licenses. Her work ensures that the company's AI innovations are well-protected and compliant with current laws. Additionally, she acts as a liaison with external entities, facilitates IP-related training, and aids in the development of internal policies, significantly contributing to the company’s strategic objectives in the AI sector.
Working under the supervision of the General Counsel, the IP Law Consultant is instrumental in maintaining the company's competitive edge in technology, ensuring diligent compliance, and effective management of IP risks. An ideal candidate for this position should have obtained at least a Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field. Extensive knowledge of intellectual property laws, proficiency in legal research tools, and strong analytical skills are critical for this role.
II. Job Duties
- Conduct thorough research on intellectual property issues related to AI technologies, including infringement and validity of AI model patents, providing detailed analysis and reports (4 hrs/wk).
- Draft internal memorandums that address IP issues associated with AI-generated content, summarizing research findings, providing legal interpretations, and offering strategic recommendations to protect the company's innovations (3 hrs/wk).
- Assist the General Counsel in reviewing and drafting IP agreements and licenses related to AI software and tools, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic objectives and legal compliance (2 hrs/wk).
- Assist the General Counsel in advising on strategic management of IP assets to optimize protection and utilization, particularly focusing on AI and digital innovations (1 hr/wk).
- Organize and compile evidence for trademark and complex litigation matters specific to AI technologies, including management of documentation and preparation of case files (2 hrs/wk).
- Act as a liaison between the company and external entities like patent offices and legal firms, particularly in matters related to AI and technological patents (1 hr/wk).
- Monitor the company’s compliance with IP laws and regulations concerning AI and digital content, evaluating potential risks associated with these assets and advising on mitigative strategies (1 hr/wk).
- Conduct training sessions for staff on IP awareness and best practices with a focus on AI and intellectual property rights in the tech sector (1 hr/wk).
- Analyze new developments in IP law, especially those impacting the AI industry, and update the company's policies and practices accordingly (1 hr/wk).
- Participate in the development and implementation of internal IP policies and procedures aimed at enhancing the efficiency of managing AI-related IP (1 hr/wk).
- Assist the General Counsel in representing the company during negotiations and discussions with third parties to secure and defend IP rights and interests, particularly in the tech and AI domains (1 hr/wk).
- Maintain and organize documents related to the company's intellectual property assets chronologically, ensuring accurate logging and easy accessibility, with an emphasis on digital formats and AI technologies (1 hr/wk).
- Provide administrative support for various legal matters, including drafting correspondence, preparing legal documents, and managing legal consultation schedules, with a focus on AI technology issues (1 hr/wk).
III. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of intellectual property laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and databases.
- Strong analytical and research skills to handle complex IP issues effectively.
- Work experience at a start-up company is a plus.
