This position will give a medical aesthetician the chance to work in a busy plastic surgery practice and provide multiple opportunities to perform non-invasive procedures to patients. You must be familiar and comfortable performing post-operative lymphatic drainage massage as this is an absolute requirement for the position. You must also have experience with lasers and other devices that are common in a med-spa setting. In addition to providing services to our patients approximately 45% of your time will be spent assisting the office staff in performing other work tasks required in the office such as entering patient demographics into the EMR, confirming appointments, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments, cleaning, laundry, and other miscellaneous office tasks.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Nevada Aesthetician license
- Training and experience in post-operative lymphatic drainage massage
- Strong working knowledge of Social Media platforms
- Training in skin care product lines offered by the practice
- Training in laser and energy based devices is a plus
- Medical Assistant or LPN degree a plus
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of experience in a plastic surgeon’s or dermatologist’s office
- Good promotional skills, and an ability to recommend skincare products
- Familiarity with surgical procedures offered by the practice, and a willingness to recommend them to skincare clients
- Good communication abilities and a customer service orientation
- Neat, professional appearance
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Client Services
- Performs skin care procedures and treatments, including but not limited to: peels, facials, postsurgical lymphatic drainage massages, Laser procedures, radiofrequency procedures, microneedling, pre-and-post laser care, pre-and postsurgical care
- Maintains patient skin care records, consent forms and detailed documentation of treatment, products purchased, medications prescribed, complaints, educational information and copies of personalized skin care regimens
- Ensures the skin care room/area exhibits a comfortable and professional look and feel; maintains all equipment and furnishings
- Maintains treatment rooms and work stations in compliance with OSHA standards
- Maintains equipment for proper operation, including cleaning as suggested by manufacturer
- Coordinates patient care with surgeons, including but not limited to the use of topical medications, pre- and post-operative care and various patient compliance concerns
- Maintains knowledge of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the office and makes appropriate referrals
- Works with medical staff to develop and maintain appropriate post-surgery skincare regimens
Promotion and Marketing
- Coordinates with the manager to develop promotions and marketing plans
- Develops and maintains relationships with key individuals at local spas and resorts, as well as other potential referral sources
- Promotes skincare products to patients and staff
- Identifies areas of services designed to expand skincare and practice services
- Participates in skincare and practice marketing and promotional plans including: events, focus groups, seminars, community presentations, and advertisements
Other
- Maintains products inventory; submits new product order requests to Manager
- Does physical inventory count weekly
- Uploads and manages patient photos to EMR system and website
- Makes sure product cabinets are locked at all times
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Assists the front office staff with telephone answering and scheduling consults
- Assist in regular cleaning of office exam rooms and work areas
- Maintains patient confidentiality by following the HIPAA Compliance Plan established by the practice; releases PHI in accordance with the practice's HIPAA Compliance Plan, attends regular HIPAA training, maintains data security by refusing to share computer and other passwords, and reports all identified and suspected HIPAA violations to the Privacy Officer
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Attends annual training programs
- Attends all regular meetings
- Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the Manager or surgeon

This position has extensive access to PHI. It requires the review of computerized or paper-based medical records, lab results, and tests, in order to perform clinical duties as well as communicate effectively with patients. It may also require access to computerized and paper-based reimbursement data (such as referral forms)¾which contain both a patient's clinical and financial information.
Typical Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and potentially lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee may work irregular hours. Employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.
