Job Summary:
The Cat Care Program Lead at Cincinnati Animal CARE is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our cat program including care, flow, and interdepartmental & external organization coordination under the direction of the Senior Cat Care Manager.
Responsibilities:
In-House Care
● Lead day-to-day operations in Cat Care under the direction of the Senior Cat Care Manager
● Take responsibility for and maintain all cat records as needed
● Assist in scheduling foster and surgery appointments as needed
● Assist in the examination process of cats when requested by the medical team
● Work under the direction of the Medical team to ensure all preventative and treatment
plans are implemented per protocol
● Ensure cat cages and rooms are meeting best practice standards for optimal living
conditions
● Assist with cleaning, feeding, and daily care as needed and ensure these tasks are
provided to our cats at an exceptionally high level every day by our Cat Care Specialists
● Assist with the management of inventory
● Assist in identifying behavior concerns and ensure behavior plans are being followed
Cat Flow
● Manage and maintain our cat population; preventing overcrowding and alerting
management when we have space to transfer in
● Facilitate the movement of cats through all processes from intake to outcome
● Proactively create solutions to obstacles for cats in shelter and foster homes
● Communicate with the Foster team to find foster placement for cats while prioritizing
those most vulnerable and facilitating return from foster as shelter space becomes
available
● Assign and facilitate cat cafe holds and placement for adoption partners at the Purrfect
Day Cat Cafe
General
● Stay up to date with and implement current housing, enrichment, and outcome best
practice as prescribed by Best Friends Animal Society, Maddie’s Fund, American Pets
Alive!, and Association of Animal Welfare Advancement.
● Attend off-site events as assigned by Senior Cat Care Manager
● Make suggestions and proactively take action to make Cat Care its most appealing to
customers (considering smell, optics, etc.)
● Assist with creating and revising SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all Cat
Program protocols including cleaning, intake, cage setup, feeding, adoptions,
enrichment, etc. under the guidance of the Senior Cat Care Manager
● Educate the public and advocate for common cat issues
● Perform other shelter duties as assigned by Senior Cat Care Manager or other
Managers or Directors
● Data entry

Qualifications:
● A high school diploma or equivalent
● 1 year of professional animal care experience preferred
● Understand basic animal behavior
● Knowledge of caring for and feeding animals (animal husbandry)
● Knowledge of feline behavior
● Ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures
● Possess strong oral and listening skills
● Possess strong leadership skills
● Ability to handle sensitive issues
● Ability to work under general supervision
● Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy
● Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
● Positions within this classification may require a valid Ohio driver's license
Physical Demands:
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand,
walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger,
handle, or operate objects, controls, or tools listed above; reach with hands and arms;
climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
● The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving
mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or
humid conditions.
● The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
● Exposure to unvetted animals is frequent

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
