Before/After School Teacher (Hillside & Irvington)
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Hillside Shifts: Monday-Friday (FULL TIME SHIFT: 7:00 a.m. - 8:30/9:00 a.m. & 2:30-6:30 p.m. or PART TIME SHIFT: 2:30-6:30 p.m.)
Irvington Shifts: Monday-Friday (FULL TIME SHIFT: 7:00 a.m. - 8:30/9:00 a.m. & 2:30-6:30 p.m. or PART TIME SHIFT: 2:30-6:30 p.m.)
Stepping Stones Child Development Centers is looking for caring and responsible candidates that are passionate about the growth and development of young scholars in our program.
Summary: Before/After School Teacher is responsible with assisting in the supervision and instruction of school age children; providing age appropriate activities; and assisting students with homework and serving meals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate program activities (e.g. games, art, music, homework, etc.) for the purpose of addressing the individual and/or group needs of children.
- Evaluate situations (e.g. disciplinary problems, hazardous conditions, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Interact with children in various activities (e.g. dinner/snack time, group or individual play, Homework Help, Outdoor play, etc.) for the purpose of providing for a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and appropriate training as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
- Keep daily attendance for student safety and proper record keeping.
- Set up before-after-school center activities (e.g. games, art projects, etc.) for the purpose of providing for adequate preparation for activities.
- Maintain an orderly and tidy environment for the purpose of keeping the rooms clean and prepared for the next occupant to use.
- Ensure adherence to good health & safety standards.
- Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Administer first aid to children as may be required for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds at a time.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Previous child care experience preferred and have excellent oral, written, and human relations skills.
- Must pass Child Abuse Record Inquiry (CARI) and Criminal History Records Information(CHRI).
- Must pass physical & tuberculosis test.
- Candidates must have state mandated training's or willing to obtain once hired: CPR/First Aid Training, Identifying Child Abuse and Neglect, Health and Safety Basics and Foundations of Child Development for Child Care Center Teachers.
- Ability to exercise control and maintain classroom discipline.'
