Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
The Manager – Accounting Controls will be a key member of the corporate controllers group with an opportunity to provide valuable insights and recommendations throughout the organization to improve processes, documentation, and remediate identified deficiencies and will also have the opportunity to engage in other important accounting activities such as supporting the close process. General duties will include acting as the liaison with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure not only compliance, but a well designed and executed global SOX program. In addition, this individual will help support the controllers group in ad-hoc high priority projects with direct visibility from the leadership team.
Areas of responsibility:
- Lead the global SOX compliance program supporting the controllers group and other functionalities in designing and enhancing key controls in various business processes.
- Support the success of the SOX program by acting as point of contact for key stakeholders including internal and external auditors.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies in existing processes and establish workplans and oversee project management of executing the implementation of new processes.
- Assist the accounting team with certain close activities including monitoring of monthly and quarterly close calendars and checklists.
- Provide support for special projects ensuring both that both the accounting and SOX implications are considered and addressed throughout the execution of the projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent concentration.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in public accounting firm (preferred) or corporate accounting/SOX role at a public company.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a vigorous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to self-direct and multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
