TITLE: Youth Development Professional (Seasonal)
PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional (Program)- Non-exempt, 40 hrs/week, Seasonal/Temporary
SCHEDULE: 5 days per week, Mon-Fri (7:15am-3:45pm or 9:00am-5:30pm)
START DATE: June 17, 2024
END DATE: Aug 23, 2024 (part-time positions available for after-school program)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Youth Development Professional is responsible for collaborating with the Program Director to implement safe, enriching, outcome-driven programs with a cohort of school age youth. As a Youth Development Professional, you are at the forefront of BGCB’s purpose: to help youth thrive. This role requires enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend, you will develop meaningful relationships with Club members and serve as a positive role model. The ideal candidate will be reliable, trustworthy and eager to contribute to our fun- loving, mission-driven culture.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide an environment that is safe physically, emotionally and mentally for all youth.
2. Plan and implement outcome-driven programs with the support of the Program Director.
3. Provide guidance to Club members to help them make appropriate choices about their physical, emotional, social, and vocational needs.
4. Foster positive and respectful relationships with youth utilizing "active listening" skills.
5. Thoroughly document and address inappropriate conduct and unsafe behaviors utilizing the behavior procedures set by the Club; immediately notify Program Director when necessary.
6. Keep all indoor/outdoor areas and Club equipment in safe and working condition.
7. Constantly position self to perform necessary tasks throughout the building and designated outdoor areas.
8. Adhere to all policies and procedures published by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
· High School Diploma (if 18+)
· Current First Aid/CPR Certification (BGCB may provide training and certification upon hire)
· Ability to work effectively with multi-age children in small and/or large groups in structured programs and informal activities.
· Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Must pass drug screen, background and reference checks prior to hire.
EVALUATION
Position holder will establish, with the concurrence of the Program Director, specific semi- annual performance objectives and expected outcomes in accordance with the above Key Roles. These objectives are dynamic and will be revised from time to time to the mutual agreement of the position holder and the Program Director.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
· The wage for the summer program is $19.50/hour for Youth Development Professionals. YDP's that stay on in the Fall will receive a 50-cent increase in pay.
· Employees will accrue sick leave at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked beginning on their date of hire.
· Employees are eligible for a 401(k) Qualified Retirement plan and BGCB matches up to 3% of the employee’s contribution each pay period.
· Free or reduced care for school aged children may be available (limited availability)
