Contra Costa Christian Schools (CCCS) is a preschool (age 3) through high school program located in Walnut Creek, CA, approximately 40 minutes outside of San Francisco. CCCS offers a college preparatory curriculum, emphasizing academic excellence while maintaining a distinctively Christian learning environment. CCCS has a growing athletic program that focuses on fundamentals and team play to build success. CCCS expects coaches to have an active profession of faith that is evident in their daily lives.
Contra Costa Christian School is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Middle School
Cross Country Head Coach for the Fall 2024-2025 season. CCCS offers a competitive stipend at a growing school & athletic department, with the heart and goal of each athlete knowing their identity in Christ in and outside of their sport. Start date is effective immediately as soon as hire.

Qualifications:

3+ years coaching experience (Middle School experience preferred)

Fundamental knowledge of the specific sport as it relates to coaching, playing, and teaching of the sport to middle school students

Previous Cross Country experience (preferred)
Job Description:
The Middle School Head Coach has knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques, as well as the advanced techniques needed for the specific sport. The Head Coach manages program development as it pertains to the specific sport. Acknowledges, adheres to, and instructs athletes as it relates to spiritual guidance and principles in accordance with the CCCS statement of faith. Manages spiritual and discipleship development. Instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork and is responsible for successfully following the Coaches Code of Conduct. Works/communicates with parents, students, staff and the community. Responsible for oversight of all levels within the program/sport.
Major Responsibilities:

Demonstrates adherence to CCCS statement of faith in all walks of personal life.

Demonstrates successful personality and character traits appropriate to athletic leadership.

Demonstrates knowledge and ability to organize practices and design an appropriate conditioning program for the specific sport.

Demonstrates successful ability to work with parent groups, administrators, staff and students.

Demonstrates successful ability to organize and maintain positive communication with the community.

Ability to spiritually develop and disciple student athletes in the context of the specific sport.

Ability to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in a group of young people of perhaps widely varying athletic ability and spiritual walk.

Ability to help students balance an academic workload with athletic commitment.
Stipend:
The coaching position at CCCS is an independent contractor position offering a competitive stipend of $1,500 with the potential for contract extension.
