POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports teachers with instruction, transition services, and health needs of students with multiple disabilities. Present 18-21 year old students with successful work-life experiences to enhance self-assurance and independence while transitioning into adulthood. Students require assistance with cognitive skills, language skills, motor skills, adaptive behavior, assistive technology, technology within the classroom, and self-care. Develop student’s ability to provide self-care, maintain ongoing support on community outings, this may require riding the bus, walking, swimming and other physical tasks. Model life skills including, but not limited to cooking, cleaning, computing, shopping, and interacting with the community. Assist students with transportation to and from job-site, and support on the job. Provide clerical support, student supervision and redirection. Deliver feedback to teachers and on the job student supervisors regarding individual student performance and needs. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
Support learning and involvement during community outings; modeling tasks and guiding students as necessary.
Facilitate and support small groups and/or one on one instruction to reinforce skills, concepts and strategies.
Assess student progress in work-life areas and provide feedback and recommendations to teacher of record for program evaluation and possible adjustment.
Ensure understanding of materials and/or assignments by all students.
Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
Elicit responses from every member of the group.
Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
Support an environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
Collaborate with team members regarding activities, planning and resources for special education students.
Safely transport students to and chaperone while in attendance at activities, outings, employment, etc.
Provide assistance and supervision of students to and from district transportation.
Prepare materials for various types of interventions.
Assist with test administration, scoring, data entry, and report generation.
Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Must maintain driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy.
Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent (e.g., the GED)
Bilingual
(preferred).
English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Valid Colorado Substitute Teaching Authorization from Colorado Department of Education. https://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/licensure_subapp
Current First Aid and CPR
(or obtained within first six months of employment).

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds.
Occasional lifting of up to one hundred-fifty (150) pounds.
Frequent sitting, bending, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling squatting, and reaching.
Occasional swimming, jogging/running.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Mostly clean and comfortable.
May encounter noise, odors and bodily fluids.
REPORTS TO:
Principal or designee.
LOCATION:
Englewood High School.
SALARY:
Hourly rate between $19.52 - $22.09 per hour based upon education and prior related experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
